Rossetti’s House: Cheyne Walk
The gate to Queen’s house is superb, in this photo you can see details of the arched bar with the monogram of the first owner, Richard Chapman, and the lanterns. The iron work is exceptional, one of the finest examples in Chelsea.
Dante Gabriel Rossetti lived with his brother William and poet Algernon C. Swinburne. Rosetti’s residence in Cheyne Walk annoyed his neighbours, as he kept a menagerie of unusual animals, including wombats, parrots, an armadillo and peacocks. In the late 1960’s Keith Richards lived in a house in this terrace (No 3) I imagine that he annoyed neighbours too.
Tudor House. I’ve been there.
someday i will have a wrought iron gate exactly like this one.
